The Uncolor of the Week: Clear

Okay, we really want a piece of lucite (aka acrylic) furniture. It makes a room look modern, fresh and hip, but let's face it, we need to start with a beginner piece (or a "training wheel"choice). We know that would be the Louis Ghost Chair by Philippe Starck,  it is an iconic piece with classic lines that can go just about anywhere... it's time to take off those training wheels, bite the bullet, pull the trigger. light that candle, etc...

Or if you are not feeling the ghost chair you could try the barstool (psssst, these were on Overstock.com)...

or maybe one of these...

Modern Family House

We love Modern Family! If you don't watch it you really should (Wednesday nights on ABC) because it is laugh out loud funny!("Pretty kitty has nails")We especially love The Dunphy Family and I always say the same thing when they show the opening credits and them in front of their house..."Honey, I LOVE that house! Can I have a house like that?"To which there is inevitably no reply (hubby sleeping with head on my lap or with his nose in the Wall Street Journal).. but a girl can dream and dream I do...

If Kris Could Start From Scratch...

Kris has always loved this room...maybe it's the colors, maybe its the texture. Whatever the reason it's the inspiration for her new living room if she could start from scratch.

I'd start with the perfectly bound seagrass rug.

 

Next would come the basic, timeless slip covered couch(es).....

an interesting coffee table...

a couple of these stools or an ottoman for extra seating...

and some conversational, unexpected light fixtures (bye- bye  boring chandeliers)

Finish off with the "funnest"  part of all..accessories!

Bottom line- she thinks if you stick to basics you always have the perfect backdrop for any new accessories, finds, trends etc...BELIEVE ME, she is always on the hunt;)
