So What Wednesday...

It's been a while , but I have run-ins with "So What's" daily.
Here's what I've been saying
"So What?" to lately...

So What if...

  • I have a fit when my kids want to make smoothies.  Damn blender too hard to clean. Seriously.

  • I'm making a list of 5 things we need  (I want) to do to our house.  I figure BBH will feel too bad to say "no"  to ALL of them...
  • I actually got a lump in my throat when , after careful consideration, I decided that $59.99 was a fair price for that yucca/aloe-y looking plant and returned to Homegoods to find someone else had snatched it up.
  • I was then willing to pay double.
  • Jen's 4 year old son sits in his car seat looking out the window, listening  to music and belts out "It's Brittany Bitch!"

What are you saying So What to this week???
Have a great Wednesday from the chicks of in your back pocket.

They're Back: Super Shorts

Some of our faithful readers might remember our Night Shorts post last summer.

We'll good ol' J Crew has brought back the popular pleated short.  This time they're are made from a textured cotton.
Here's why we like them:

1. They have a side zipper.  (better for muffin-top issues AND extra stomach volume)
2. They have the perfect amount of flair.  (optical illusion... slimmer legs.)
3. Good length.  (don't really look like MOM shorts)
4. Can be worn casual or dressy.
Don't really love this color palette together, but the colors are great in real life.
We bought them on sale for $49 + an extra 30% off last week.  They're back to regular price, but keep watching for the deals.
Put some snazzy shorts in your back pocket.

Rolo Fudge Brownies

I love "mini" candies.  Although I'm pretty sure that eating an entire packet of mini Rolos is worse than eating a basic "roll" of Rolos.  Anyhow, here is a great recipe from Shelly of Cookies and Cups...two beautiful things: brownies AND Rolos. Click on the link HERE to get full recipe and tutorial.  You can even use a brownie  mix if you want.

Thanks for sharing, Shelly!

A Little White Paint...

I am painting next week.  Yep, my living room.  Guess what color?  Uh, Wait for it....

White!

You got it, Benjamin Moore White Dove.
Now i know my living room lacks most of the details in the following inspiration photos, but I cannot live another day with the entire first floor being some form of khaki/camel/beige. The good news it, all of my furnishings are pretty neutral so I should have the basics covered.

Birthday "Madness"

Last weekend we had a "Mad Scientist" birthday party and it was a blast!! (No pun intended)
There are such great ideas out there on blogs and pinterest...
The girls had so much fun (and maybe learned something in the process)!

We started with awesome printables from Pink Pickle Studios on etsy

added a little dry ice..

Each girl got her own disposable lab coat from here and a name tag with their "Doctor" name on it when they arrived. It was sprinkling earlier in the day so we set up the party in our carport, not the most glamorous spot but it worked and kept the mess outside.

We started with building towers out of marshmallows while the girls arrived...
Our first experiment was insta snow from the BEST source for science fun

and then we made "worms."

We blew bubbles with pipettes and used dollar store gloves so we could "catch" them without popping them
It works!
Then we took a break for pizza and jello "bacteria" and melon molecules
I even attempted to make some cookies that tasted soooo good but looked sooo bad,
but as my BFF said "put it in cellophane and slap a bow on it and your golden"
My mom thought the beakers were sandwiches and the test tubes were knives...really?
After lunch we had a little pinata time.  Now, some "super moms" on Pinterest made their own pinatas but we
we  used a Sid the Science Kid pinata magnifying glass, with a few modifications.
Next, we used food coloring to experiment with colored frosting on our cupcakes and
sang Happy Birthday to my big girl
The final experiment was the Mentos and Diet Coke geyser, totally awesome I might add.

Each girl went home with some test tube candy they chose, bubbles, a "bubble glove", a scientific notebook, pencil, magnifying glass, pop rocks, insta snow, and some goofy glasses
My little guy had so much fun that he got dressed up, wrote his own name tag and drew a beaker..
put some mad science in your back pocket...
