I am giving a little advice today and that is when they suggest you use a rug pad underneath your rug, DO IT! Because if you don't (and your rug is cheap from Ikea) you might end up with this...
Didn't know that the latex like backing of this rug, that I thought was to keep it from slipping, was actually biodegradable! It was sticky and gummy and had to be scraped off first, but carefully to avoid scratching...
then thankfully the internet told me that Mineral Spirits would take off the sticky mess and not jack up the finish on the floor and they were right! After many hours of scraping and scrubbing (mostly by my hubby) the floor looks as good as new.
Now about a new rug...
Now about a new rug...
This one is from Calypso
from William Sonoma Home and suprisingly affordable
from West Elm
from Dash and Albert
Can you tell I'm thinking stripes or diamonds:)
Or maybe I'll go back to the natural texture of jute, sisal, or seagrass...
But you can't bet I won't do it without one of these babies...
A RUG PAD!
from Pottery Barn
Help find me a new rug and make sure you put a rug pad in your back pocket...
Oh.My.Heck! I cannot believe it left that on your pretty floors. What a pain in the rear to have to deal with that. Duly noted on using a carpet pad. Love the first and fifth rugs you've chosen!
ReplyDeleteWe had the same thing happen with a rug in our bathroom! It was so gross. Luckily, it was just over vinyl flooring, so my husband scraped it all off after we spritzed it with some WD40.
