On Display

We love when we see jewelry displayed as art...it makes it organized and accessible which is perfect because it makes us wear it! Otherwise we get accessory lazy and have the same earrings on for days...

Kelley Moore

Kris' are displayed like this, below.  She bought shadowboxes at Homegoods and hung them by her closet.  (The boxes come with push pins that hold the jewelry perfectly.)

I found these boxes at West Elm and love displaying my jewelry in them...

My necklaces are hung by hooks on my closet door.  Where's your jewelry displayed?

Daughter's room inspration

Here's the deal...my 13 yr old daughter is NOT neat.  She tries clothes on just to leave them on the floor where she took them off.  She keeps everything.  Can anyone explain why we have bottles of food-colored water on our bookshelf?  She's obsessed with photos of her friends and hasn't met a hideous carnival prize she didn't like.  Such a textbook teenager.
Her walls are already light blue, so I based some inspiration on that.  One thing about decorating is that you MUST be REALISTIC.  Here's what I've been thinking:

We've traded in out crazy fushia Target bedding for a crisp white bedspread.
Now, because we have blue nail polish spilled on the carpet, I think I need a rug like this stripe from Dash and Albert.
Thinking of painting her old white dresser pink...

Hanging something like these from etsy or some lanterns,

Repurposing an old desk chair to look something like this...

adding a little oomph and seating

and she already has this adorable print in an 8x10 in an IKEA white frame.

A FEW MAJOR PROBS....
How in the world do you incorporate these gems...

That, my friends, is reality.
Hope you enjoyed my thoughts.  Tell us what you think at in your back pocket.

"So What" Wednesdays

A blogging friend of ours, Shannon, at "'Life After I Dew" does a series called "So What Wednesdays."  She asked that we participate.  I must admit its kind of theraputic.  Here goes:

SO WHAT If...

-I have  John Denver's Greatest Hits in my car.

-I took a nap yesterday at 9:30 a.m.

-I've been known to go to Target and get my kids a slurpee at 8:15 in the morning,  (and am a little irked if they aren't ready.)

-I believe everything I read in People magazine to be "truth."

-My dog and the UPS man are on first name basis.

-I want to be BFFs with Clinton and Stacy from What Not To Wear.

-I refolded my daughters PJs right out of laundry basket and put them back in her drawer.  (I feel they can be worn more than once!!!)

"Rocky Mountain high-iiigh, Coloradoooo..."

Do you have any Wednesday "So What's" you want to share?

Have a great day...from Kris of in your back pocket.

Mummified

A few ideas to kick start the Halloween season.  Mummies are cute and very under-used in my opinion.
Just wrap a pumpkin in gauze and add some googly eyes.

Martha Stewart
For these babies you'll need a 1/4 inch ribbon piping tip. I'm going to sound like such a baker when I walk into Sur La Tab and ask for one..."Um, yes...Can you tell me where your 1/4 inch ribbon piping tips may be?"

Just cut your crescent rolls into strips and wrap!

Twinkies and your new "piping tip."
