A Little Summer Craftiness

We've received a few emails about the bunting/pennant flags from the last post and they are from love, september on Etsy.
Here is some bunting/pennant inspiration...
Well it is 107 in Phoenix and my kids are driving me a little crazy...which means I need to entertain myself and keep my sanity inside the air conditioned house... so I made a bunting of my own that is in the kids playroom. I found this great tutorial from here complete with tracers. A rotary cutter and sewing some straight lines (the only kind I can do:) and viola!

Born on the 4th of July

My baby boy is turning two on Sunday and I love his birthdate because it is so easy to decorate for and when he is old enough to stay awake for the fireworks we'll tell him they are just for him:)
His shirt has a 2 on it and he LOVES trains
so it is perfect, it is from Planet Pudge on Etsy

I would love to have a big party for him like this...
but everyone leaves the hottest place on earth
for the fourth, so instead we are celebrating inside like this...
and his aunt Kris is wearing this to his party...
(not really, she is thousands of miles away but we can dream right?)

Happy 4th of July!

Blissful Banquettes

We have always wanted a banquette in our homes because they are both cozy and cool and give spaces an intimate feel. They can also be the perfect solution in functionality because they can be built to conserve space and add storage.
These are all built in but wouln't mind a "makeshift" one that gives the same effect  using a settee...

Wall 'O Shoes...

O.K...so our imaginary house HAS to have one of these...a special home for our shoes.  No other explanation necessary...
Believe me...we could fill it.

Circa 1990

This weekend is my 20 year high school reunion and I am really looking forward to it...want to see some old friends, laugh, dance and have fun...but mostly I want to get away from 110 degree heat WITH my husband and WITHOUT my kids:)
I must preface this by saying that at the time I thought  this prom dress was "the bomb", whatever happened to the tea length mermaid???? Oh man....
I have naturally unruly thick curly hair so NATURALLY I thought to myself "hey, a perm will help!"
a la Whitney Houston
We went to Hawaii for Graduation and Palm Springs for Spring Break, we wore alot of Beautiful perfume, used a lot of hair spray to keep the bangs nice and high
Nice pose Jen...I mean really what was I thinking?
We clearly had some serious fashion icons...
namely Kelly Bundy (or is that Kelly Pickler?)
Thanks mom and dad for watching my kids and thanks to my sister for the Skype fashion shows you had to endure, the dresses you had to look at online (with three young kids not much time to actually go shopping), thanks to my husband for agreeing to go with me, even though you will only know one person, and thanks to Facebook for making not seeing people for 20 years seem not so long at all!

A Little Surprise Inside

Took my garage sale money to Ikea to buy this cute grey dresser.  It was super easy to assemble, bigger than I thought, holds a ton, and when I saw the drawers a little suprise was awaiting me!  They were lined in the cutest paper!  This $149.00 purchase just got better...

Here are some darling drawer liners from Hammocks and High Tea.  A little bit of "cute" for your drawers. They are $25.00 for 6 sheets and lightly scented.
